so we ran outside on the deck and jumped into the tub. we tilted the cover just so as to turn it into a makeshift awning. on the opposing side we raised the hot tub umbrella to keep the other side of the tub from the rain and the lightning (because we’re genius’ who go in water during lightning storms).

anyhow, the standard time limit one is recommended to stay in a hot tub is no longer than 30-60 minutes. nick and i went in for 60+180 minutes. while this is very obviously a poor choice in terms of our health, we also talked about lots of good things– but mainly potatoes. and here is where the title of the trilogy comes to be.

while we sat in the hot tub, in the mists of a monsoon, we talked about many ridiculous things. but the most standout-ish of all topics was potatoes. our main focus was, “if i were a potato, what kind of potato would i be?” it started off like this…

“ugh, i’m hot. i’m a hot potato”
“more like a steamed potato.”
“well, no. in a sauna i’d be steamed. here i’m pretty much a boiled potato.”
“aaa. that makes sense.”

from there the conversation only got weirder. and then the aforementioned question about properly qualifying our own potato identity came to be. “what kind of potato am i?”

well, nick got out of the hot tub and laid face down on the deck– mind y0u the rain is still coming down. he said, “i think right now i’m a cool potato.” i said, “no, i think you’re more of a chilled potato. a cool potato would be a potato  listening to funky cold medina with sunglasses and a zima.” he agreed.

finally, we talked about what a wonderful life it would be if sitting in the hot tub (and naming “that” potato) was our job. the company would be called boiled potato inc. and it’s employees would sit in a hot tub for an entire day and talk about life (and potatoes). and they would even have a fax machine and a company blackberry (with brick breaker!).

anyway, after a looong hard day at work, we got tired of the hot tub and the rain began to slow down and then stopped. nick had the idea to move this party into the bay. he grabbed us each a floaty raft and we walked onto the dock.

“dare we to become soggy potatoes?”

after a few moans and groans (and an ass-kicking from ralph, nicks dad) they all started to move out of the condo and over to nicks toms river house. we arrived and sat on the back deck for a while to unwind. then they got their bearings and headed out to belmar. at this point it was just nick and i remaining–which was the plan all along because we were going to take the jet skis out on the bay (and there are only two of them). but here’s where the problem’s (disguised blessings) began.

the skies were cloudy, but the bay was calm. and there is no better time to ride the skis than when the bay is calm. so we flipped a coin to see who got the faster jetski (me) and then we headed out. we got out of the “no wake zone” and i took off. but when i looked back, i saw that nick was moving slow. long story short, something was wrong with his engine and we had to go back to his house to look at it. we then proceeded to sit down on the deck and engage in our usual ridiculous banter. then it started to pour outside. so we just went inside the house and started watching the storm. then all of a sudden nick got an idea.

“keeffe, should we go in the hot tub?”

second of all, i would like you to know that i’m releasing a trilogy about the awesome-ness that was my day yesterday. featuring nick romeokeeffe. this is just a warning– the rain (and the potato) is coming. and, no, you don’t know what that means as of now, but i’ll get you there…

also, i would like you to briefly direct your attention to my new header. that is, very much, bill cosby in a personally embroidered umass (not at all his alma mater) sweatshirt making his signature facial expression. the perfect blend of sexy, hilarious, goofy, and heithcliff and theodore huxtable.

mariah carey has no business trying to make a diss track on the worlds best rapper. and she should really think about that next time. simularly, nick cannon doesn’t know what the hell he’s getting into. he should just cut his losses and go back to “all that”.

and yes i also pretend to be texting sometimes. and sure, most of the time i really am texting, but for the sometimes i’m really just trying not to talk to anyone because, well, i find my iphone to be far less annoying then most of the people i encounter in bars.

ok, so now you know my secret. this is, by no means, the go ahead for you to talk to me while i appear to be texting. because odds are, if “it looks like it is, it probably is”. that is to say, if i look like i’m texting, i’m probably texting. i.e. stay the eff away.

back to my main point. tweet: “i’m bored” tweet: “it’s raining” tweet: “my cat purred” tweet: “my cat purrs often” facebook status: “follow me on twitter” (and yes, this one has a function unlike the others but i find it to be equally annoying.)

i hate twitter. but i am very much going to tweet my blog right now.

if you’re a friend reading my post, don’t write it off because you remember the days in high school when they sounded like noisy fools with instruments. take a listen and then go to a few of their upcoming shows… they’re good.

if you’re a random, try them out. pre-order their debut album (it’s “pay what you want!”– can you say “free cd”?!). and i can assure you– it’s a good album.

you won’t sit still for even a minute. it’s just not a realistic goal! it’s one of those films where, when the credits roll and the lights come on at the end, you sit there with your jaw wide open and your eyeballs glazed over. after a few moments have passed, you look at the person you came with, or, if you came alone, one of your sour patch kids, and say, “what the…”

i’ll say it again, the most incredible thriller/horror film i’ve ever seen.
